It is our desire at Faith Lutheran to share the love of God in Christ with such joy that more and more people would come into a dynamic relationship with Jesus!
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a penitential season observed by many Christians. On Ash Wednesday, worshippers attend services at which time they receive ashes on their foreheads. The pastor marks the forehead of each worshipper, often saying "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return." Ashes are viewed throughout Christian history as a symbol of humility and sacrifice, and as a reminder of our mortality and our connection to the earth.
This year our Mid-Week Lenten observance will invite us to “Journey with Jesus”, as we explore and reflect on the gift and mystery of our salvation. Mid-week services will be held on Wednesdays beginning at 5:30 p.m. n the Sanctuary, followed by a soup supper in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m. This is a change in the order for our Lenten fellowship from the past years, once again, this year our worship/devotional time will precede the supper time. During our 5:30 p.m. worship time I will introduce you to a new evening worship format, using a very popular Evening Vesper Service, Holden Evening Prayer. This is a simple sung service that I believe you will find to be a refreshing and uplifting Lenten experience.
